The Interior Ministry has urged all expatriates to ensure that all
males aged 18 years and above obtain an exit permit if travelling out
of Qatar.
An exit permit is a must for all visitors above 18 years of age to
leave the country, in case they have stayed in Qatar for more than 30
days, the Ministry has clarified. However, women who are under the
sponsorship of their parent / husband are exempted from this rule. The
parent/sponsor is the authorized person to apply for the exit permit
if the resident is under personal sponsorship. The validity of exit
permit is seven days. There are no special offices to issue exit
permits within the Doha International Airports, but the office outside
the departure lounge works 24 hours, and can be contacted for this
purpose.
Speaking further about this, the Head of Airport Passports Section at
the Ministry, Maj. Nasser Al Humaidi, urged nationals and residents to
apply for the exit permit at the Ministry website to save time and
last minute hassles. The validity of residence permit and passport too
should be checked before submitting the application, he said.
The information is also available online and will be cross-verified
electronically within seconds, and the applicant can sign
electronically using the Smart ID Card. In this case, a print-out of
the approval is not necessary, as it will be automatically updated,
the official said.
Further, the Assistant Director of General Directorate of Border
Passports and Expatriates Affairs, Brig. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ateeq,
mentioned that all types of exit permits can be obtained from all
service centres of the Ministry across the country, the Ministry
website and E-Government website, and Airport Passports Department.
To obtain an exit permit for Qatari minors, application forms are
available on the Ministry website, which should be filled in and
signed by guardian and submitted with original Qatari ID of the
guardian and original passport of the minor.
