Smart Qatar for expatriate soon will be launched

Doha: Smart Qatari ID card for Expatriates will be launching soon.

Smart ID card is used as personal identity card for the holder as old ID cards will be replaced with this new smart ones and rules and regulations of the ID cards will be applied on it (in case requested to activate electronic services or e-gate services). Smart cards contain an electronic chip where the personal data will be stored. These data cannot be accessed without entering PIN or matching fingerprint with fingerprint stored in the chip.


Smart card can be used for many purposes as follows:

1) Completing visa procedures based on a prior approval
2) Completing all types of residential transactions
3) Issuance of exit permits
4) Issuance of return permit for the expatriate
5) Renewal of driving license and issuance replacement license on loss or damage
6) E-Gate Services at Doha International Airport
and many other services

The card fee will be as follows:

New Card – QR 100
Replacement of the lost card – QR 200
Replacement of the damaged card – QR 200
